Went and had a look at this place whilst in Essex for the weekend. Took some pictures and we appear to have caught something! The place was empty with no one around. You can clearly see a figure stood on the outside of the derelict restaurant. let me know what you think please.   Mark |

We have also tried to find out more about the Harrow and have only had limited success, here is what we have found out. pubshistory.com/EssexPubs/Bulphan/harrow.shtmlLooks like it has been around for a long time judging by the pictures on this website. I believe it closed in early 2000 and was set on fire in 2009. We would love to get inside for an investigation but so far we have come up blank on who owns the site. Hi everyone! When i was about 13 or 14 myself, and my friend Michael used to camp in a field about a quarter of a mile from The Harrow pub in Bulphan. In fact we used to use their (outside!) toilet rather than crap in the bushes. The walk back from the pub after dark (with cattle roaming apparently completely free on the lane) was always spooky (of course it was! I was 13 and it was a dark lane at night!) but we never saw any ghosts. We did, late one night, hear an unearthly scream (that I can still hear now if I try!) which scared us witless! We reported this to the man who's field we were camping in, the next morning and he "reassured" us that it would have been a rabbit caught in a snare. Horrible sound anyway, and very very human sounding! My interest in Bulphan ghosts (which bought me to this site,) however was that we also used to camp just up the road in a proper campsite; (who's name I have forgotten sadly,though it was not far from Corbetts Tye crematorium,) and this campsite supposedly had a resident ghost, who went by the name of "Kipperfeet". I have never been able to find out anything about this ghost, or where the stories came from. We did see something very odd there however. A group of us- about 5 or 6 teenagers- on a late summer evening saw a flashing light coming from a tree about 200 yards from our tent; when we plucked up courage to go (in a group!) to the tree we saw..... nothing at all! We never did find out what caused the flashing light. Sadly that is so often the case with ghost, or other mysterious sightings. Nice spooky photo by the way! Congrats on that!

We often see mysterious lights when we are out investigating that always disappear when we get closer to them.
Must be something but what it is I have no idea. makes me wonder if this is what created the 'Willow the wisp' legend.
